Share the Hope   2008

We are in the process of returning, long term, to Honduras, with the goal to be on site by end of Summer 2008.
It has been, and continues to be a challenging task - preparing to set up the Outreach Center and the long
term projects we are anticipating; while, saying Goodbye to Friends and Family.

We would love to share our plans with you before leaving.  Please contact us to find out when we will be in your area.
It is so good to have friends, new and old, sharing our Vision for the Honduran People.  Without the love and support of
friends and family, this task would be unbearable.  Thank you to all of you who have encouraged us thus far.  Don't forget to
check out the new photos from our Summer Trip.  (Photos 2007 or click here

  Seminar Opportunities

Jaclyn has  developed an Interactive Children's program, helping children learn about Honduras, the struggles of Third World Countries and Missions, all in a fun way.  Complete with stories, songs, crafts and taste testing, age appropriate for 1st - 5th grade.

Both Tim and Jaclyn are also available to share with either Men's or Women's groups the interesting 'Life Lessons' learned
along the way in Honduras.  Not specifically a Missions Presentation, but general reflections on life's day to day moments and the changes to your perspective that come with spending time in a different culture.

And yes, we would love to share with you and/or your group our Multi-Media Presentation on the  StepUp Honduras  Program, Life in Honduras and our plans to positively impact the people we so dearly love. There are mini presentations of 15 minutes to a full presentation of one hour.

Call or E mail us with any questions you might have.  Our information is on the Contact page. Or, use the Web Site Contact Page for comments and  to inquire about available dates for your location.

            Prayer Requests

Please Share in this vision and in sharing you are a part of the Hope.
Pray – to prepare our hearts for what is ahead.  And to have the strength and ability to complete all that needs to done                                       here in the states before going.
Pray – to prepare the hearts of those we will be reaching out to, and those whom we will be  working and living.
Partner - We will need financial partners.  We can not undertake this mission alone.  It has been requested that we have 3                              months of donations before we leave for the field. Please consider joining us in this amazing mission.

Starting in 2000 – God created in us a deep passion for the Central American people, through short term trips and fellowship within a Spanish Speaking Church here in San Jose -  this passion has never dimmed but continued to grow.  We never imagined where it would lead.

Tim visited Honduras in ‘03, and saw people, who were tired and beat up by their day to day lives, and a
harvest – just waiting for them.  It’s like they were climbing a hill, and were too tired to reach the top and
see all that God had for them – just waiting over the crest, and we knew we needed to go and
encourage them.  The Old Testament tells a story of Moses, standing on the top of a hill – leading his
army from  that vantage point, and as long as his hands were raised, they fought and were winning,
but he became very tired, and his hands began to drop, and they began to lose.  Then two men came
along side of him, and held up his arms – and the battle was won.  In that same way we need to
go and encourage the people Honduras, they are good people, but they are tired.  We don’t need to go
take over, but to encourage them, and at times equip them, to do the task before them.

We lived in Honduras during 2004-2005, Tim mentored Natan, a young gifted pastor and many young men, encouraging the men to stand firm in their faith and make a difference in their community.  Jaclyn's favorite activity was working with the young girls and women.  The girls in Honduras are so sweet, but have been battered about by a culture that gives them no value.  They joyfully drank in the understanding that God loves them, and sees them as pure and blameless.  There were 7 girls in November, we had 36 for their first ever retreat in February, and by the end of the year there were 75.  Other areas we worked in are outlined under Student Aide and Photos.  We share their photos on the photo page.

God has extraordinary work, ready to be done, by ordinary, not so perfect people.

We returned to Honduras this past summer, we spent 6 weeks renewing those wonderful relationships and visiting over 20 different people groups  - to access the retention of what we had shared and where God would have us return.  The lessons taught, the growth we saw during our first term, was maintained at  unbelievably high levels.  We could not have been more thrilled.

Take the Horans...out of Honduras...and all you are left with is "du"
As we return to Honduras, this time on a permanent basis, we will first stay with a small group wanting to make a real difference in a little place named Rio Lindo.  They have been through a lot.  They are blessed with a wonderful pastor, but he is worn down, their community is broken and divided, and healing is needed.  After some months with them, we will be deciding on one of the several groups that we were lead to this past summer, and will set up our ministry center there with them.  We will be continuing with our passion to love and encourage the people.  It is amazing how just that - gives them the hope and courage to pursue all God has for them.

Our program StepUp Honduras was created to assist secondary school students to receive more education.  The average child finishes only the 3rd  grade.  Continuing beyond 6th grade is very rare, and very expensive for them, and a unreachable goal without help.  Our first students will be graduating this year.  We have been able to bridge the gap, helping their parents to be less fearful of the changes and to understand the need, helping the youth to better understand the world they are entering. Imagine learning to explore the Internet, and your parents can’t read.  Having a place for them to learn and grow helps immeasurably.

Why Bother?  Because this is the generation that can make a difference.  Why bother?  Because these young men can be the first generation to stop routinely abusing their women.  These girls can be the first generation to not believe they deserve it.

Why Bother?  This generation can learn new ways to better use their land, and their resources.   StepUp Honduras also helps feed the poorest of the poor, but we want to take it to the next step.  Tim worked with some men during the summer on a project to get more water to a town with only 1 hour of water everyday, and many don’t even have that.  We have been aware of the need, but now God is showing us how – way beyond our expectations – to connect the people with the answers with those in the greatest need.

We had a free day due to tire trouble (again) and we got to relax and read at  the Cataratas above  Rio Lindo.
